Dance, in all its forms, is one of the fastest-growing artforms in Ireland. Everybody seems to be stepping out.
Hence, there might be a passing interest in Altman’s latest drama, produced and co-written by Campbell herself and set against a classical dance background.
She plays a talented member of the Joffrey Ballet Company in Chicago who has to make some tough decisions about her career and personal life, particularly with the arrival of a new artistic director (played with decidedly gay abandon by McDowell) and the romantic intentions of a chef (Franco).
Dance has brought us some of the best Hollywood - and British - films ever, from Fred and Ginger, Mr Kelly, Mr Travolta, Mr Swayze and The Red Shoes.
The Company doesn’t make it into this distinguished list, since it lacks a sense of drama and a feel for the characters. There is no humanity in the film. The dancers are just out of step!
