A satirical US TV show has provided conclusive proof that a Los Angeles man did not kill a 16-year-old girl who had testified against his brother in a court case.

Juan Catalan spent five months in jail before his lawyer found in-the-crowd video footage taken by the show at the city’s Dodger Stadium that backed up Catalan’s claims of innocence.

Catalan, 26, insisted he and his six-year-old daughter were watching the Los Angeles Dodgers lose to the Atlanta Braves minutes before the girl was killed about 20 miles away from the baseball stadium.

But an episode of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm filmed at the stadium contained footage showing Catalan in the crowd eating a hot dog with his daughter.
