Miss Australia, Jennifer Hawkins, was named Miss Universe 2004 today, following a two-hour pageant in Quito, Ecuador.

Hawkins, a 5ft 11in blonde with blue eyes who lives on Bondi Beach in Sydney, was chosen from among 80 beauty queens.
