Ian Wright signs for TV game show

Ian Wright is joining TV game show They Think It’s All Over, it was announced today.

The former footballer will take over from his old Arsenal team-mate David Seaman.

The BBC1 show returns for a new series in the autumn with Wright as team captain.

Fellow team captain Jonathan Ross will be back alongside regulars Phil Tufnell and Rory McGrath.

Wright has previously appeared as a guest on the show and proved a hit with viewers.

He said: “I can’t wait to join the team. Having been a guest on the show, it’s familiar turf and I know what antics are in store for me.

“Jonathan better watch out if he thinks he’s going to keep hold of the limelight all of the time.”

Producer Jim Pullin said: “Ian’s been a huge hit when he’s been on the show before, so it’ll be great to have him appearing every week.

“He’s one of those unique performers who you just point a camera at and this huge burst of energy goes right down the lens.”

Wright has signed an exclusive deal with the BBC to front a string of shows. Past programmes include Friends Like These and Spy TV.
