Justin wants Rent role

Justin Timberlake is in negotiations to star in the big screen version of the musical Rent.

Rent is an up-dated version of Puccini's 'La Boheme' set in New York's East Village.

The director Chris Columbus said: "There is a role for a popstar who can really sing and Justin is dying to do it."

However, he will be treated like everybody else and will have to audition to get the role.

It is hoped that filming will begin this Autumn in New York City and San Francisco.
