Evangelist Graham under the knife

Evangelist Billy Graham has had surgery to brace a pelvic fracture he suffered at his home last week.

The 85-year-old preacher was said to be in a fair condition at Mission Hospitals in Asheville, North Carolina after the surgery, which doctors said should reduce the pain of the fracture.

Graham’s surgeons said orthopaedic implants would hold the socket of his hip joint in place while he healed from the injury he suffered in a fall on May 14 at his home in Montreat.
