Trippers to meet Calendar Girl strippers
The village housewife behind the Calendar Girls charity fundraising is now offering three-night package holidays linked to the locations used in the film of the exploits of the Women’s Institute members.
Calendar Girls Holidays is the idea of Tricia Stewart, who was played in the film by Helen Mirren.
The Sunday to Wednesday breaks give trippers the chance to meet Tricia and other members of the Rylstone and District WI in North Yorkshire, who stripped off for a calendar to raise money for leukaemia research.
Based around accommodation at The Red Lion hotel in Burnsall, the trips include coach tours to Skipton and Bolton Abbey as well as to the film location sites.
The calendar was planned as a fundraiser and memorial to John Baker (played in the film by John Alderton) whose wife Angela (Julie Walters) was a WI member.
So far the calendar girls have raised around £1m (€1.5m).
