Sting cancels show due to illness

Rock legend Sting was forced to postpone a ninth consecutive concert today due to a continued bout of laryngitis.

A spokesman for Birmingham’s NEC Arena confirmed that tonight’s gig at the venue had been called off by the former Police frontman.

“Ticket holders are advised to hold on to their tickets, which will be valid for the rescheduled date and will not need to be exchanged,” the spokesman said.

In a statement to fans, Sting said: “This is a bitter blow for me. It is a terrible beginning for the UK tour, I feel gutted. We are not having a good couple of days up here.”
