Movie hunk Brad Pitt sent out a defiant message about his marriage last night when he appeared hand in hand with wife Jennifer Aniston at the premiere of his latest film.
Hollywood’s glittering couple had faced speculation that their relationship was on the rocks after the actor said it was not in human nature for two people to be together forever.
The rumours were fuelled when 40-year-old Pitt, who plays legendary Greek warrior Achilles in new epic Troy, appeared without his actress wife at the film’s world premiere in Berlin at the weekend.
But the couple showed no sign of marriage difficulties when they attended Troy’s glittering New York premiere at the city’s Ziegfield Theatre last night.
Looking glamorous in a strappy black dress, ex-Friends’ star Aniston cuddled her husband and looked into his eyes in a display of affection.
The £140m (€208m) movie, the most expensive ever made, also stars actor Eric Bana as Prince Hector, legendary British actor Peter O’Toole as King Priam and rising star Orlando Bloom as Prince of Troy.
In the movie Prince of Troy sparks war between Greece and Troy when he whisks Helen, Queen of Sparta (Diane Kruger), away from her husband, King Menelaus.
In Berlin, Pitt who spent a year working out so that he could look the part of a warrior, said that his four-year marriage was fine.
He said that he hadn’t got into trouble for saying the couple didn’t “cage each other with this pressure of happy ever after”.
“I’m not in the doghouse. Jen and I put everything on the table. We discuss everything,” he said.
Troy opens in Britain on May 21.
