Axed TV host moves back to politics
Axed talkshow host Robert Kilroy-Silk is to stand as a Euro MP for the United Kingdom Independence Party in next month’s elections, the party said today.
The former Labour MP – whose British morning TV chat show was scrapped by the BBC over comments he made about Arab nations – will be top of the party’s East Midlands list.
Other candidates have agreed to make way for Mr Kilroy-Silk in the June 10 poll.
Party leader Roger Knapman said: “I greatly welcome Mr Kilroy-Silk as a UK Independence Party candidate.
"He is hugely respected as a journalist and broadcaster, and firm in his views, particularly with regard to the retention of Britain’s independence and sovereignty.
“I am sure he will fight a vigorous campaign in the East Midlands and all of us in UKIP are looking forward to working with him.”
