Laws of Attraction no substitute for Bond
Peter Howitt
Pierce Brosnan, Julianne Moore, Parker Posey, Michael Sheen
12.
If, as seems likely, Brosnan is to hang up his tux and retire from active duty as 007, he should start looking for better films than this one.
It pretends to be a modern-day Hepburn-Tracy screwball romantic comedy, an update of Adam’s Rib, but it’s such a mish-mash of a film that it never comes close.
Pierce and Moore play a couple of New York divorce lawyers whose battles lead to the depressingly obvious … they fall in love.
The film was made in Ireland - Hollywood’s version of Oirland - and it’s full of embarrassing Oirish moments. Alas, it is not full of anything else worthy of discussion.
Kate and Spencer did it better. Let’s face it, Custer and Sitting Bull did it better!
