Blanchett gives birth to baby boy

Actress Cate Blanchett has given birth to a boy, it has been announced.

The star of films including Veronica Guerin gave birth on Friday to Roman Robert in London, publicist Lisa Kasteler said last night.

There were no further details.

The 34-year-old Australian actress and her husband, screenwriter Andrew Upton, also have a two-year-old son, Dashiell John.

Blanchett’s movies include The Talented Mr Ripley, the Lord of the Rings films, The Missing and the upcoming The Aviator.
