Basinger sells engagement ring for charity

Kim Basinger has sold her 3.7 carat diamond engagement ring from ex-husband Alex Baldwin for $59,750 (€50,000).

The star, who is an active animal rights campaigner, auctioned the Tiffany ring and another gift from her ex at Christie’s to raise money for The Performing Animal Welfare Society.

A necklace with a variety of precious stones fetched just over $20,000 (€16,000).

“I got it for fun,” says Beverly Hills jeweller Yossi Dina who estimates he paid 30% more than the piece is worth. “My clients will pay crazy money for that.”
