Tarantino makes box office killing

The martial arts revenge thriller from director Quentin Tarantino, has been described by many US critics as the best film of the year so far.

The DVD of Volume 1 was released last week (it sold two million copies in its first day on the shelves in the States).

Meanwhile, The Punisher, another revenge-themed movie aimed principally at young men, opened in second place with $14m (€11.7m).

A third new film, Connie and Carla starring and written by Nia Vardalos from My Big Fat Greek Wedding only made $3.3m (€2.8m), despite good reviews.
