Loos: Fling might be good for Beckham marriage
Rebecca Loos claimed today that her alleged fling with David Beckham might actually be good for his marriage.
The former PA said news of the England captainâs alleged infidelity could strengthen the starâs relationship with wife Victoria.
And she blamed the former Spice Girl for letting the affair happen, saying: âIf there hadnât been a gap in that bed I wouldnât have been in it.â
Loos gave her second TV interview in the space of a week to Channel 4âs Richard and Judy show.
Describing the alleged fling with the footballer as a mere âhiccupâ for the Beckhams, she said she hoped the marriage would survive.
âEvery relationship goes through hiccups. Thatâs what keeps a relationship strong and keeps it going in many ways.â she said.
Co-presenter Judy Finnigan asked her: âItâs been speculated that the affair happened because he was lonely, because Victoria was not in Spain. Do you agree with that?â
Loos replied: âTo a great extent I would, yes. I feel that if there hadnât been a gap in that bed I wouldnât have been in it.â
Beckham has dismissed her claims as âludicrousâ and his lawyers are said to be considering legal action over fresh revelations.
Asked if she felt guilty about the alleged affair, Loos replied: âI did play a part in it.â
Presenter Richard Madeley spluttered: â50% of it, love.â
She shot back: âWell, so did he. And we know now I wasnât the only one,â referring to claims made by Malaysian-born escort girl Sarah Marbeck.
Loos claimed Beckham had insisted to her she was the only âother womanâ in his life.
âWe were in bed and I said âyou must have had so many loversâ,â she said.
âHe said âno, of course not, Iâm far too much of a public figureâ.â
Loos said she had âstupidlyâ believed his claims.
And she complained about opinion polls which show the public blame either her or Victoria for any affair, but not David.
âItâs often that, isnât it, that the guys get a pat on the back,â she said.
The privately-educated PA said she had never set out to do a kiss-and-tell.
âI didnât fall for the England captain, I didnât fall for the image, I fell for the man behind that,â she insisted. âThat was where my feelings came from.â
She laughed off suggestions that she was to make ÂŁ1m (âŹ1.5m) for her story, claiming the real figure was ânowhere nearâ that sum.
But her publicist Max Clifford claimed today she had made ÂŁ800,000 (âŹ1.2m) so far and is relishing her new-found fame.
âI can see it in her eyes,â he told the Evening Standard. I can tell she loves the money and the attention.â
He said that when Loos came to him she âwas worried that she wouldnât be able to work again as a PA. I explained that the money I could generate from this would mean she wouldnât have to work again.â
And she may have two more bombshell kiss-and-tell stories up her sleeve.
Bisexual Loos has had sex with two other âmajor stars, one male and one femaleâ, Clifford claims.
She certainly looked every inch the celebrity as she arrived at the Richard and Judy studios in Kennington, south London, for the interview.
Wearing Posh-style oversized shades and swathed in a pale green pashmina, she smiled for waiting photographers before sweeping into the building with her new agent Cheryl Barrymore, ex-wife of shamed TV star Michael Barrymore.
Meanwhile, Victoria will be hoping to win the PR war when she makes her first official public appearance tonight.
The former Spice Girl is due to sing at the Royal Albert Hall, at a party thrown by her management company 19.
The company is celebrating its 19th birthday and Victoria is due to take the stage in her first official public engagement since the Beckham story broke.
Her former Spice Girl pal Emma Bunton is also on the guest list, along with 19 artists Will Young, Gareth Gates, Rachel Stevens and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson.
