Travolta plays villain in comic flick
John Travolta stars in the new movie, The Punisher, based on the Marvel comic hero, as a villain, the head of an organised crime family.
The star has already had one big comeback after years out of the limelight when he starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction.
He’s had several flops in the past few years but says he always takes the ups and downs of the fickle movie business in his stride.
”I don’t let bad movies and choices keep me from enjoying my life and moving ahead in other areas.”
He says he loved making his latest film. He’s a keen pilot and flew himself to the set in Tampa, Florida from his home in Ocala, Florida. He has another house in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile Travolta says now that he’s 50, he’s happy doing character roles instead of always playing leading men.
“There’s no excuse not to admit you’re not a young guy anymore. I’m happy to be 50. I’m middle aged.”
Travolta’s next film Be Cool is a sequel to his hit Get Shorty. He reprises his role as Chili Palmer a loan shark who loves movies. In the film Palmer makes a disastrous movie sequel of his own.
“The first line I have in the picture is ‘sequels!'" he laughs.
