Harryhausen launches sculpture of Dr Livingstone
The veteran special effects genius, Ray Harryhausen, turned to Belfast-born sculptor Gareth Knowles when he wanted to commission a lifesized depiction of explorer Dr Livingstone's encounter with an African lion.
After four years' work the impressive piece has been unveiled at the National Trust of Scotland near Glasgow.
Harryhausen, famous for his brilliant work on such films as Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans and The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad is a great fan of the famous explorer.
His wife, Diana, is Livingstone's great granddaughter.
