Beckhams put on United front

David Beckham is set to fly back to Spain from Britain today after putting on a united front with wife Victoria in the public glare over his alleged affairs.

The England captain is due back for training with his Real Madrid team-mates following a day spent at the couple’s Hertfordshire mansion – dubbed Beckingham Palace – for an early family celebration of Victoria’s birthday, who turns 30 on Saturday.

The pair happily posed for a scrum of waiting photographers late last night as they left the exclusive Gordon Ramsay restaurant at Claridges in central London, where they had enjoyed an intimate dinner.

They emerged smiling from the restaurant as they appeared determined to give the impression they were a happy couple despite the week-long series of allegations about David’s private life.

But they refused to comment beyond a statement they issued earlier yesterday revealing that they had “instructed” lawyers over the “absurd” claims.

The statement in full said: “This weekend a series of even more absurd and unsubstantiated claims have been published about David and Victoria Beckham.

“The couple continue to dismiss these stories and they will not be commenting upon them further at this time.

“Lawyers have been instructed by David and Victoria concerning these matters.”

The celebrity couple had been in discussions with his advisers following a week-long series of allegations about his private life.

The statement was issued by 19 management, the agency which represents Victoria, otherwise known as Posh Spice.

Rebecca Loos, the footballer’s former PA, is to give a TV interview with Sky One over claims of her affair with Beckham.

She says she slept with him in the same hotel bed he shared with Victoria, 29, following his move to Spain.

Sky news anchor Kay Burley will question Loos on the affair on TV for the first time to face questions about the scandal.

The hour-long special programme, Rebecca Loos: My Story, will be broadcast at 10pm, this Thursday.

The ex-boyfriend of the second woman to claim she had an affair with the 28-year-old soccer star said Beckham sent her a text message saying “I want you” minutes after England thrashed Germany 5-1.

Jake Hamilton told the Daily Mirror that he was sleeping with Sarah Marbeck at the same time that she was allegedly seeing Beckham.

He said: “She was jumping for joy, bouncing around on the bed. It was two minutes after the game ended and Sarah got a text from Becks. She said to me, ‘It’s him.”’

Malaysian-born Marbeck, 29, a barrister’s daughter, who lives in Australia, alleges that she first slept with Beckham after the two met on a Manchester United tour in Singapore in July 2001.

She claimed she even had sex with Beckham while his wife Victoria was pregnant.
