J-Lo's mother scoops €2m jackpot

Actress Jennifer Lopez is no longer the only millionaire in her family.

Her mother won a jackpot worth almost €2m playing a slot machine in Atlantic City at the weekend.

Guadalupe Lopez was playing the popular Wheel of Fortune machines at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa when she hit the jackpot, a casino spokesman said.

“It was divine intervention,” she said. “I have a great devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patroness of Mexico and the Americas, and had just looked up at the two million dollars and said a little prayer to her when I hit the jackpot. Our Lady really looks out for me.

“When I won, my knees started shaking and I started yelling and screaming.”

Now Guadalupe plans to use a portion of her winnings, which will be paid out over 20 years, to start a college fund for her two grandchildren.

“I’m all about family. All I ever wanted is to help them, now I can,” she said.
