Ill Berry pulls out of drama

James Bond and Batman star Halle Berry has been forced to pull out of her latest acting role due to a lingering illness, it was reported today.

The Oscar-winning star had to cancel plans to appear in the TV company HBO’s drama Lackawanna Blues, because she has is believed to have an ear infection.

The illness prevented her from flying to Las Vegas to pick up the Female Star of the Year award at the ShoWest convention of movie exhibitors last week.

Berry’s publicist, Karen Samfilippo, told the New York Daily News: “HBO had a tight schedule and couldn’t wait for Halle to recuperate.”

Lackawanna Blues is based on Ruben Santiago-Hudson’s play about the life of a child in Lackawanna, New York, in a boarding house.

Berry, who had a small role in the drama, will remain the project’s executive producer.

It is the latest setback for 37-year-old Berry, who suffered a broken arm last year while filming Gothika.

She was also hurt during the making of the forthcoming Catwoman movie, when she was struck on the head by a light.

Berry is due to begin filming next month on Their Eyes Were Watching God, the Oprah Winfrey-produced television movie based on Zora Neale Hurston’s novel.

Ms Samfilippo said Berry should have recovered by then.
