Phoenix to star as country legend Cash

Filming will begin in June on a movie about the life of legendary country star Johnny Cash, who died last year. Joaquin Phoenix will star as the music legend and Reese Witherspoon will play his wife, also a country music singer, June Carter Cash.

The film will chronicle Cash’s life from his beginnings on a cotton farm in Arkansas in the late 1940s to his early success in Memphis alongside such emerging stars as Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis.
