Usher's Yeah tops UK chart

R&B star Usher was celebrating last night after booting DJ Casper’s novelty song Cha Cha Slide off the top spot in the British pop charts.

New entry Yeah, featuring Lil’ Jon and Ludacris, cruised to number one, while Will Young’s offering Your Game only managed to make it to third place.

With DJ Casper shunted to number two, Britney Spears’ Toxic fell to fourth slot.

She Wants To Move by Nerd entered in fifth position, with Enrique and Kelis, Jamelia, Jennifer Lopez, Peter Andre and Black Eyed Peas filling slots six to ten.

The recent dominance of the album charts by young jazz singers and old-timers may be at an end after Katie Melua’s Call Off The Search was finally knocked off the top spot, by George Michael’s latest offering, Patience.

Heavy metal favourites Guns N’ Roses entered at number two with their Greatest Hits, leaving 19-year-old Melua in third place.

Her single, also called Call Off The Search, only managed to enter the singles charts at number 19.

Crooner Engelbert Humperdinck climbed back to number four in the album charts from number seven last week, and Norah Jones’ Feel Like Home fell from two to five.
