Mallett joins special needs campaign

British TV personality Timmy Mallett has joined a campaign to save a special needs centre said to be under threat from a planned city bypass.

He gave his backing to campaigners fighting a proposed road which cuts through the community centre where his older brother Martin, who has Down’s syndrome, has lived and worked since 1981.

Mallett, who rose to fame presenting the Wide Awake Club on TVam in the 1980s, has been a regular visitor to the Newton Dee community in Aberdeen over the years.
