My whirlwind life, by tip celeb mum Ulrika
Celebrity mother Ulrika Jonsson said today that the last year of her life had been a “whirlwind”.
The Swedish-born TV presenter, speaking at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London after it was announced she had been voted Celebrity Mum Of The Year, said: “It’s been hectic, it’s been quite busy, it’s been quite full on.
“It’s been a bit like a whirlwind and I’m just taking stock now and saying - wow how did that all happen? So it’s been quite a busy and exciting year.”
The former weather girl and TV presenter beat Hollywood star Catherine Zeta Jones and Supermodel Kate Moss to be awarded the Celebrity Mum Of The Year Award.
But the pregnant celebrity admitted that she was fortunate to have support that normal mothers may not have to help her raise her children Cameron, 10, and Bo, three.
“I think I’m very fortunate. I have a nanny who helps me out when I’m working so to that end I think I have enormous help and I have a really supportive partner so I find it really easy.
“The worst thing about being a mother and being a working mother is the guilt you have when you go away and work and making sure you have enough time with the children – which I certainly do. Other than that I feel very fortunate.
“I think there are people out there who have a lot more of a hard time juggling things and working strange hours and who have no child care at all. I’m very lucky.
Jonsson expressed her delight at being voted: “I’m a little embarrassed because I’m humble as a person but it’s very, very exciting. I saw it last year and the year before and I’m keeping my eye on who are the good celebrity mums out there. It is very very exciting.
However Jonsson expressed her concern for her daughter Bo, three, who is currently undergoing cardiac surgery for a rare heart condition.
“I have got to get my daughter out of hospital as she is still in hospital having cardiac surgery so my plan is to get home and see her recovery through and then wait for the arrival of this baby.
“To be honest I haven’t really planned anything beyond that – except for hopefully returning to work in the autumn.
Speaking about her marriage to Lance Gerrard-Wright in August last year she said: “It is more or less the same as being just together actually. It feels really really great. It feels very very stable and it feels completely right.”
She admitted that she was glad now that her pregnancy has reached seven months.
“ It was pretty awful for the first three-and-a-half months. I was just very very sick and ghastly. Now I just have the delights of cramp and varicose veins, heartburn and wind – so it’s lovely.
But Ulrika admitted being a celebrity mum would not hold her back in the future and she planned to go back to work as soon as her children were ok.
“I have worked all my life. I have always gone back to work after having my children so I couldn’t imagine a life when I was not working,” she said.
