Denzel lined up to star in heroin dealer flick

Denzel Washington is set to star in a film about a notorious Harlem heroin kingpin, Frank Lucas, The Return of the Superfly.

In the ’70s, Lucas became the biggest heroin dealer in New York with a smuggling ring that imported drugs from Southeast Asia in the caskets of Vietnam soldiers.

The film centres on the struggle by narcotics expert Richie Roberts to bring down Lucas.

The screenplay is based on a New York magazine story by writer Mark Jacobson.

Washington recently finished filming The Manchurian Candidate. He’s also in Man of Fire which is out at the end of April in the States.
