In the Cut director taking time off for motherhood
Director Jane Campion has decided that her latest movie, the psychological thriller In the Cut, will be her last for some time as she plans to concentrate on being a mother to her horse-crazy daughter Alice.
She's been working on movies continuously for about 15 years, because the opportunities were there, and she was really grateful for them, saying: "I loved what I was doing and I just kept doing it.''
Now she wants to just be a mother for a while and doesn't know whether or not she'll go back to film.
The New Zealand-born director of The Piano and Portrait of A Lady is known as an actors' director because of the relationship she builds up with her cast. She says: "It's all about giving them space and respecting them, and being someone they can trust".
