Bad Boys sequel repeats action formula

WILL SMITH and Martin Lawrence are back in Bad Boys II as Miami cops Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, hot on the trail of a shipment of ecstasy supposedly being brought in from Cuba by Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla).

Marcus and Mike aren’t the only ones after Tapia.

He’s also being trailed by the DEA, led by Marcus’s sister Sydney (Gabrielle Union).

Sydney goes undercover laundering money for Tapia, while Mike and Marcus do their best to protect her, and find a way to bring Tapia down at the same time.

That’s it as far as the plot goes.

The rest of the film’s 2½ hours is taken up with flying bullets, explosions and car smashes.

You can’t help but feel you’ve seen it all before.
