Time is running out to vote for next Monday’s Meteor Ireland Music Awards.

Meteor Mobile Communications has already received thousands of votes from music fans for this year’s awards, but voting closes tomorrow.

Hosted by one of Ireland’s funniest men, Dara O’Brian, the 2004 Meteor Awards promises to be a star studded music extravaganza with performances by Lionel Richie, Counting Crows, The Corrs, Sugababes, Westlife, The Frames, Hothouse Flowers, Paddy Casey, The Dubliners and Jerry Fish & The Mudbug Club.

Eighteen Meteor Ireland Music Awards will be presented this year. The public can vote for short listed nominees in eight categories by SMS text, telephone and www.meteor.ie including Best Irish DJ, Best Irish Pop Act, Best Irish Band, Best Irish Album, Best International Male, Best International Female, Best International Group and Best Live Performance.

The short-list was compiled from the votes cast by a host of Irish music industry representatives, broadcasters and music journalists.

Voting couldn’t be easier, just text VOTE to 53500 to get all the information you need or else you can just text VOTE plus the category code plus the short-listed nominee’s number to 53500 (see list below). All text votes will cost no more than 60c across all three Irish networks.

Music fans can also vote on www.meteor.ie or by calling 1550 507800. Calls cost 73c per minute.

The Meteor Music Awards will be televised by RTE and shown on Network 2 on Wednesday, March 3 at 9pm.
