Busted break into British top spot

Boyband Busted have gone straight into the charts at number one in Britain with new single Who’s David.

The band knocked Sam & Mark off the top spot giving them further cause to celebrate after a week of honours.

The three piece picked up Brit Awards for Best Pop Group and Best Breakthrough Act at the star-studded ceremony on Tuesday.

Pop Idol duo – Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes – are now at number two with their Beatles’ cover With A Little Help From My Friends.

Surprisingly, Fame Academy winner Alex Parks entered at number 13 with her new single Cry, suggesting the popularity of the reality TV star is waning.

Indie band Keane, hyped as the next Coldplay, came in at number three with Somewhere Only We Know, pushing Take Me To The Clouds Above by dance outfit LMC vs U2, down to number four.

Milkshake by Kelis dropped one spot to number five and Hey Ya by American hip hoppers Outkast remained at number six.

Ex-Boyzone star Ronan Keating slipped five places to seven with She Believes (In Me) and Somebody to Love by Boogie Pimps dropped one to eight.

Other new entries were dance track Give it Away by Deepest Blue, in at nine, and Can’t Get Enough by Canadian singer-songwriter Raghav, in at 10.

Pop legends Duran Duran have entered the album charts for the first time in a decade – straight in at number four with their Greatest Hits.

The stars of the Brits re-released the album on Monday in anticipation of their Outstanding Contribution award.

Frontman Simon Le Bon and the band have not been seen in the top 10 since they released The Wedding Album in 1993, which featured smash hits like Ordinary World.

There is no change in the top spots in the album charts with 24-year-old Norah Jones still reigning with her second album Feels Like Home.

Katie Melua’s Call Off The Search remains at number two.

Pop Idol winner Michelle – 23-year-old Glaswegian Michelle McManus – has gone in at number three with her debut album The Meaning of Life featuring hit single All This Time.

Meanwhile in the classical charts, pop svengali Pete Waterman has become the first producer to have both number one pop and classical albums, after his violinists Duel, took the top spot.

Waterman, who produced such massive hits as I Should be so Lucky and Especially for You, discovered the two musicians – Greg Scott and Craig Owen - when they were busking in Manchester.

Their eponymous album looks set to ensure the talented pair enjoy massive cross-over success.
