Stars get ready for Brit Awards
A host of celebrities were travelling to the UK tonight for the Brit Awards, the highlight of Britain’s music calendar.
Crazy in Love star Beyonce and triple-nominated Justin Timberlake are just some of the big names who will be at tomorrow’s event.
Glam rockers The Darkness, who lead the field with four nominations, rapper 50 Cent, Black Eyed Peas, and Busted will all perform live.
Justin Timberlake will be presenting Duran Duran with an Outstanding Contribution to Music Award at the ceremony, hosted by Cat Deeley.
Justin Hawkins’ band The Darkness are up for best British group, British breakthrough, British rock, and British album for Permission to Land.
Singer Dido has three nominations but is not attending the event at Earls Court.
The star pulled out after saying she wanted to concentrate on writing and rehearsing for her forthcoming tour.
Boy band Busted, Daniel Bedingfield and Mercury music prize-winner Dizzee Rascal also have three nominations apiece.
US funk duo OutKast and Beyonce will hook up on stage, while rapper Missy Elliott, R&B diva Alicia Keys and singer Gwen Stefani are set to perform as a trio.
Dido is up against Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jamelia, music veteran Annie Lennox and newcomer Amy Winehouse.
Best British Male is a race between Badly Drawn Boy, Daniel Bedingfield, David Bowie, Dizzee Rascal, and Will Young.
Busted, The Coral, The Darkness, Radiohead and the Sugababes have all been nominated for best British group.
Winehouse has been nominated for two awards – Best British Female and Best British Urban Act – barely three months after releasing her debut album.
