University to honour JK Rowling
Children’s writer JK Rowling is to receive an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.
The author wrote much of her world famous series about boy wizard Harry Potter while living in the city as a single mother.
She also completed a teacher training course at Moray House in Edinburgh in 1996.
Now a millionaire with a Georgian mansion in the city shared with her new husband and two children Ms Rowling will collect one of the university’s highest accolades, the degree of doctor honoris causa in early July.
