Celebrities homeward bound after jungle adventure
I’m a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! contestants were finding out just how jungle fever gripped the nation as they were returning home today.
The nine celebrities reportedly got themselves out of Australia yesterday after their two-week televised adventure which climaxed on Monday with the crowning of former pop star Kerry McFadden as Queen of the Jungle.
Having tackled a host of unsavoury Bushtucker Trails for the hit ITV show, they are now expected to chew over more tempting offers for TV and advertising deals which could be worth millions of pounds.
In contrast to the Spartan camp conditions, some of the contestants had spent the last few days enjoying the luxury of a five-star hotel in Queensland, telling their stories to newspapers ahead of their departure.
And there were more revelations from Down Under today as Queen Kerry’s husband Bryan, 23, of the boy band Westlife, told newspapers he was in talks with TV chiefs to take part in the next I’m a Celebrity show.
He told the Daily Express: “It all depends on my commitments with the band. Watching Kerry for the first few days was so incredibly hard, but after seeing her triumph I would just really like to give it a go myself.”
The couple were expected to be reunited with their two daughters, aged two and one, in Dublin at the weekend.
Kerry, also 23, told the Star: “I’m over the moon that I won, but I couldn’t be happier that I’ll be with Lilly and Molly soon.
“I’m sick waiting to see them. It’s worse than being homesick.”
Hunky singer Peter Andre, 30, had told reporters of his hopes to fan the flames of his romance with model Jordan – real name Katie Price.
After coming third on the show, he had told the Sun: “I’ve had the starter - now I want the main course. I’ve fallen for Katie, like mad. She’s a beautiful, amazingly sexy girl. I’ve got jungle fever and bedding her is the only cure.”
But he appeared to have been thwarted yesterday when Jordan embarked on the 24-hour journey on a separate flight, the Star revealed.
Alex Best also reportedly returns home in time for the airing of a documentary on Channel 4 today, Alex Best: My Life With George, in which she describes their rocky relationship.
Mike Read, accompanied by his fiancee, and Lord Brocket were expected to be the first to arrive this morning.
Read has produced a record with performances from other contestants, entitled Jungle Rock, backed with the show’s theme song.
