Return of the King hits new box office high
The enormously successful Lord Of the Rings – The Return Of the King has now made $600m (€469m) worldwide, making it the second biggest box office hit ever – after Titanic.
As the Oscars approach, it now looks almost certain that Peter Jackson will win the best director award.
He’s just won the prestigious DGA (Directors Guild Of America) top prize as 2003’s leading filmmaker.
Momentum keeps on building for the movie and Jackson is obviously delighted: “I’m thrilled and proud,” he says, “because the film promotes courage, friendship and faith.”
