Something's Gotta Give is a tiresome film

Suspend belief; Keanu Reeves turns up in this star-packed film as a heart surgeon.
It's hard to understand why it has been so highly-praised in the States - with Keaton collecting an Oscar nomination - since it is merely sort-of interesting rather than outstanding. This is largely due to seeing Nicholson, after several excellent films, slip back to his old ways: those of a man who couldn't be bothered to do more than post his performance in to the studio (decidedly second class).
There's a lot of talking in SGG, but it's not about anything important. We have here a tiresome film which thinks it's better than it is. It would like to think it is a witty romantic-comedy in which Nicholson is discovered wandering around her home by Keaton. He convinces her he is the romantic interest of her daughter (Peet) but when he then has a heart-attack (presumably after reading the script), enter doctor Reeve, and must be looked after.
Everything thereafter is exactly what you would expect it to be.
Keaton is, as always, good to watch on screen; Nicholson is annoyingly annoying, Reeve is so miscast it's funny; the film is a massive disappointment.
