Alex Best, estranged wife of soccer star George, is to take on more trouble as she faces snakes and spiders in a bid to win food for her jungle pals in reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”.

The former air hostess was nominated by a public vote to undertake the next Bushtucker Trial last night.

Previous trials have seen other celebs in the televised camp facing their fears, with peer Lord Brocket overcoming his fear of heights by climbing rope ladders and glamour model Jordan and ex-footballer Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock braving a test in which they donned helmets which were filled with creepy crawlies including cockroaches and spiders.

Alex’s Tunnel of Trouble challenge will see her attempt to crawl through five tanks containing snakes and spiders, and pick up 10 stars with her mouth.

Throughout her time in the jungle camp, she has been among the quieter members of the group of 10 and, typically, her reaction to news of her nomination was also more muted.

She covered her mouth in apparent shock, but then seemed more positive, clenching her fists, and saying: “Yes. Yeah!”

Earlier in the show, muscled singer Peter Andre and glamour model Jordan pledged to talk about their feelings once they escape the glare of the cameras.

The singer’s amorous intentions towards Jordan have been revealed as they spend days in the jungle camp for the ITV show.

The flirtation has included sensual massage, and Peter confiding his feelings to ex-Atomic Kitten Kerry McFadden, who relayed them to the busty model.

But in a cryptic conversation, held as they washed their clothes in the river away from camp and the other eight celebrities, Jordan and Peter had an intense heart-to-heart and agree to talk after leaving the show.

Peter: “Kerry says that you like mucking around.”

Jordan: “Kerry doesn’t know me.”

Peter: “Okay. Let me first clear one thing up. Later when all this is over and you’ve done what you’ve done, give us a call all right? That’s all I’m going to say.”

Then later, Jordan told him:“I’m doing what you are, if you’re backing off, I’m backing off.”

Peter: “You were never on.”

Jordan: “Oh I was.”

Later in the show, the singer called Jordan a tease and mimicked her brushing up against him to prove his point.

But the former pop star also admitted he "should go and have singing lessons, I know that" during a session in which he gave some of his fellow campers a rendition.

He told them he had written a couple of songs in his time in the jungle: “I am just feeling a bit inspired at the moment.”

But it was page three model Jordan and her friend Kerry who took centre stage as they attempted the latest stomach-churning Bushtucker Trial – Bite for Bite.

The women were forced to eat a series of grubs in order to win meals for the camp.

They managed to walk off with seven meals, after swallowing a revolting selection of creepy crawlies, including green ants, bush cockroaches, and worms.

Kerry lost the camp one meal when she quailed before a three-inch long witchety grub - which Jordan managed to swallow – but both girls failed to down eyes from the big reef fish.

Kerry – who joked hers had conjunctivitis – made many attempts but ran out of time.

Jordan twice tried to keep it down but, on her second attempt as she held the eye between her teeth, it burst, sending blood and ink flying out of her mouth and dribbling down her chin. She tried once again but her body regurgitated the unwelcome food.

After the trial, Jordan was clearly disappointed. “That was a bloody experience – it popped. I really did try and I’m really sorry, I’m so tempted to have one more go.

"Don’t feel happy about not doing it, it’s either all or nothing, the black bit just got stuck there…I don’t like letting people down. Don’t we even get any tooth floss?”

On the way back to the camp Jordan picked up profiteroles for the campers, who had been promised a treat if they correctly guessed which woman would eat the most.

The celebs were also lifted by letters from their loved ones and a treat from ex-camper Tara Palmer Tompkinson, who gave them five pairs of pina colada flavoured edible undies, a fuchsia coloured mask and a whip in the celebrity chest.

The chest was won after Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock and former BBC royal reporter Jennie Bond were sent off, and the ex-football player undertook a challenging tightrope walk over a waterfall.

But all the fun and games in the camp was not enough to lighten ex-Sex Pistol John Lydon’s mood.

The strain of jungle life and an increasing lack of tolerance for Jordan seemed to take its toll on Johnny, who disappeared during the live show on Saturday.

He went to bed grumpy and woke up grumpy yesterday and told the camp: “I’m not a happy bunny”.

Today is the last day the ten celebrities will be together as tonight they find out which one of them has been voted out by viewers.
