Eminem's ex escapes jail term

Eminem's ex-wife has avoided a prison sentence after admitting possession of cocaine.

Kim Mathers, who divorced the 31-year-old rapper in 2001 after two years of marriage, was pulled over last June by police who found 25g of the drug in her car.

Mathers, 28, has been sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay court costs.

The judge in Detroit also ordered her to take regular tests to ensure she stays drug and alcohol free.

Prosecutor David Portuesi said of the checks: "They are very strict and can come at any time."
