Gest has strength for interview but not court appearance

Liza Minnelli's soon-to-be-ex-husband David Gest has claimed his ill health prevented him from attending a divorce hearing but he still had the strength to grant an interview.

Producer Gest, who currently resides in Hawaii, claims Liza caused him permanent injuries as a result of her "drunken rages" and cannot fly to the New York courts where lawyers are dissolving the short-lived marriage.
