McCartney faces Blaine scuffle quiz
Detectives are to speak to Paul McCartney following a fracas when the multi-millionaire star when he went to see illusionist David Blaine in his glass box, it emerged today.
Officers will speak to McCartney as a matter of routine following the September incident before deciding whether to pursue the matter further.
Police became involved after a rumpus when McCartney and some friends visited the scene of the American’s London stunt where he spent weeks suspended in a box near Tower Bridge.
Their inquiries concern an alleged scuffle with a photographer at the scene.
The former Beatle was upset after the photographer tried to take a picture of him.
Kevin Wheal, who was working for London’s Evening Standard newspaper, claimed McCartney pushed him in the chest.
When it emerged long-standing publicist Geoff Baker had tipped off the photographer that McCartney would be there, the rock legend told him he was fired before storming off.
McCartny later dismissed the sacking as a joke.
The argument between his companions and Mr Wheal continued and police stepped in.
