A guitarist with an up-and-coming band has been found hanging at recording studios owned by Peter Gabriel.

James Lawrence, 26, a member of Chichester indie group Hope of the States was found at the Real World Studios in Box, near Bath, UK, earlier.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: "I can confirm that we were called to the Real World studios in Box shortly after 4am today where the body of James Lawrence was found hanging from the rafters by other members of the band.

"He was taken down and efforts made to revive him but to no avail."

UK police said he was declared dead at the scene and said they were not treating the incident as suspicious.

The band was set to release their highly anticipated debut album in late spring.
