Bedingfield faces long recovery

Grammy-nominated singer Daniel Bedingfield may remain in New Zealand for several months to recover from injuries he suffered in a car accident.

Bedingfield – who has had three No 1 hits in Britain – was in a stable condition and will probably be released at the end of next week, said Alison Lees, a Whangarei Base Hospital spokeswoman.

“But he won’t be well enough to travel, so he’ll be recuperating in New Zealand for two or three months,” she said.

Bedingfield, 24, suffered head and neck injuries on Friday when the Jeep Cherokee he was driving from a music festival near Whangarei overturned on a rural road. He had to be cut out of the wreckage by firefighters.
