Media frenzy follows 'joke' Britney marriage

A media frenzy has broken out over the "joke" marriage between Britney Spears and childhood friend Jason Alexander.

The whirlwind marriage - which took place after a night spent partying in Las Vegas - looked destined to end as suddenly as it began, today, with claims that her “joke” wedding vows were being annulled.

Wearing jeans and a baseball cap Spears, 22, was said to have been walked down the aisle by a hotel barman.

A member of hotel staff also reportedly drove the giggling duo to the Little White Wedding Chapel, where Dixie Chick Natalie Maines, and film stars Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have also tied the knot.

After they realised they needed a licence to wed, the same staff member reportedly drove them to the licensing office to arrange the paperwork. Then it was back to the chapel for the "wedding".

The exchange of vows was a joke that went “too far” according to sources close to the singer.

Both Spears and her husband, 22-year-old Jason Allen Alexander, signed an annulment in the presence of lawyers shortly after the ceremony.
