Over 14 million in UK see Barry tumble to death

More than 14 million UK viewers tuned in to see Janine push Barry to his death in EastEnders last night.

Barry met his grisly fate on the first day of the couple’s honeymoon in Scotland.

Janine confessed she had been sleeping with Paul Trueman and had only married hapless Barry for his money.

He forgave her and begged her to make their marriage work – but heartless Janine pushed him away and he tumbled down a cliff to his death.

An average UK audience of 14 million watched the episode, peaking at 14.6 million.

Meanwhile, Emmerdale also scored a ratings hit last night for its dramatic New Year episode.

An average of 10.7 million people in the UK tuned in, rising to a peak of 12 million.

Viewers saw Trisha buried beneath a pile of rubble as a storm wreaked havoc on the village.
