England captain David Beckham regrets that he and Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson have hardly spoken since he left the club, the footballer revealed.

The Real Madrid player told a television documentary last night he would have expected more respect from his former boss.

“He hasn’t spoken to me still,” he said. “We spoke for five minutes at a funeral. He hasn’t rung me… I really would have thought that would have happened to be honest.

“I just expected a bit more respect at the end of the career when I had been at the club for that many years.”

The star said he was initially surprised to hear that Manchester United put out a statement agreeing a fee for his sale.

“I didn’t think for one moment it would happen,” he said. “I was more upset than anything because I had put so much into the club. I felt I had given 120% every time I performed…”

David and Victoria Beckham were filmed house-hunting in Spain for ITV1 documentary, The Real Beckhams, broadcast last night.

They were shown searching for their new house, shopping for olives and even trying out their Spanish.

Victoria revealed that she loved managing the couple’s affairs and did not care about the chart position of her music.

“I just want people to hear it,” she said.

The former Spice Girl was shown looking through newspaper cuttings discussing her and David’s private lives and at one point shouted out: “Oh p*** off you b******s”.

David admitted that their move to Spain had been stressful.

“Things have been difficult moving to Spain,” he said. “It’s just been very difficult and it has been very stressful.

But he added: “I think we’ve come out of it alright.... We’ve got over a lot worse than this.”
