Teenage daughters, eh!
Now they certainly come from a distant planet. What makes the little darlings tick, what goes through their brains, why are they going out wearing a pelmet and a lace curtain?
So when widow Tess (brilliantly played by Curtis, who is being talked up as a surprise Oscar nominee) takes her rebellious teenage daughter, Anna (disappointingly played by a bland Lohan) to a Chinese restaurant, she is given the chance to find out what it's like to be a teenager these days.
This is because the two are given magical Fortune Cookies and we have that age-old plot of the body exchange. But forget that this is not a new idea - this particular version of the story was made several years ago with Jodie Foster playing the daughter - because it's a surprisingly funny film.
Tess, now a stroppy teen, and Anna, a button-down 'adult' disgusted at mum's wild behaviour, could have done without this mix-up since she's getting married at the week-end to Harmon (this being a chick flick the male members of the cast are required to merely turn up and wander around).
Curtis is outstanding and this is a very, very good film that will certainly entertain you richly.
