Midnight Rings screenings take $8m

Los Angeles’ midnight hour proved profitable for Frodo and the gang.

The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King took in an estimated $8m (€6.5m) from 2,100 midnight screenings, according to distributor New Line Cinema.

That was about double the haul for midnight screenings of last year’s middle chapter, The Two Towers, which played in about half as many US cinemas for those midnight showings.
