Producing role for Spiderman

Spiderman star Tobey Maguire is moving into producing and plans to bring Andy Behrman's memoir Electroboy to the screen, according to reports in Hollywood.

Maguire, who is in the running for an Oscar nomination for his role as jockey Red Pollard in Seabiscuit, also reportedly has his eye on playing Behrman, a 28-year-old manic-depressive art forger and confidence trickster.

The film will also reportedly chronicle Behrman’s sexual escapades, drug binges and treatment with electro-shock therapy.

“Andy Behrman’s memoir depicts a man whose illness puts him in the centre of the maelstrom that was the ’90s,” said Maguire’s co-producer Jim Stern.
