Brent's jacket is up for auction
Comedy star Ricky Gervais was selling off one of David Brent’s naff outfits from The Office for charity in a live television auction today.
The star is getting rid of Brent’s dated casual gear of tacky brown leather jacket, faded jeans and white T-shirt, which he wore in the show, in an auction for the British Comedy Awards.
Gervais said recently he is getting rid of clothes and props to show that the programme will not be coming back after a Christmas special.
He memorably wore the jeans and T-shirt in the second series when he gave a motivational presentation.
Bids of more than £500 (€715) are being taken and the price tag is expected to be in the thousands during a live TV auction on ITV2 tonight.
Other top items being auctioned are suits donated by Ant and Dec and a pair of tight trousers handed over by Channel 4 presenter Graham Norton.
Jonathan Ross is selling off a Vivienne Westwood suit and Steve Coogan has offered a pair of Alan Partridge’s shoes.
The auction ties in with ITV1’s British Comedy Awards, hosted by Ross, and the auction follows immediately afterwards in a show on digital channel ITV2 called And The Fun Goes On.
Early bids can be placed online at www.britishcomedyawards.com and the live finale will be during the show.
