Sharon Osbourne is bidding to become the new queen of daytime TV.

Her US chat show has been snapped up by Sky One and will be shown in a lunchtime slot from January.

In The Sharon Osbourne Show she interviews celebrities in bed, just as Paula Yates did on The Big Breakfast.

Guests who have snuggled up under the covers include Pamela Anderson and Elton John.

It is one of the highlights of Sky One’s winter season, which was announced today.

In January, British viewers will get the chance to see Prime Minister Tony Blair’s appearance on The Simpsons.

Sky has bought the rights to a string of US dramas which have been ratings winners across the Atlantic.

They include Nip/Tuck, a provocative drama set in a plastic surgery practice and starring British actress Joely Richardson.

Other ratings grabbers include Cold Case, about a female detective; Las Vegas, starring James Caan as the head of surveillance for a casino; and The Handler, about a group of FBI agents working undercover in LA.

Angel, Star Trek: Enterprise, Mile High and Dream Team are all back for new series.
