Robbie DVD breaks records in UK

Chart star Robbie Williams has set a new record with the fastest selling music DVD in Britain, his record label said today.

The singer – who has been barred from the best male title at the Brits next year – shifted 46,000 copies of his What We Did Last Summer concert film.

The one week sales exceeded those of previous record holders Led Zeppelin who shifted 27,00 copies of a recent DVD.

Williams’s DVD captures his Knebworth shows which saw him play to 375,000 fans over three days in the summer.

The shows were performed just before the singer's Phoenix Park spectacular.

He is currently performing on the final leg of his tour which closes in Sydney, Australia on December 14.

It emerged today that strict rules for the Brits mean he does not qualify for best male at the Brits – an accolade he has won for the past three years.

His Escapology release was out within the eligibility period – but because he won best male last year after being entered for that LP, he is barred from doing so for a second year.

And his recent Knebworth album does not put him in the running because live releases do not count.

He may still be in the running for best single and best pop act.
