Miss Ireland favourite to take World title

Odds on Rosanna Davidson to win the 2003 Miss World title this Saturday have been slashed to 4/1 by Boylesports, who have reported a constant flow of bets over the past week.

Boylesports initially made Rosanna a 50/1 bet when the 110 contestants were named but have been forced to cut her odds dramatically to 25/1, 8/1 and now 4/1 because of the weight of money she is attracting.

Rosanna is now the clear favourite to be crowned Miss World in Sanya, China on Saturday next, with Cindy Nell from South Africa next in the betting at 12/1.

"The Chris de Burgh factor seems to be grabbing the public's imagination. We have customers coming in to branches asking to bet on Chris de Burgh's daughter for Miss World.

"But come Saturday evening I am sure Rosanna Davidson will be a house hold name in her own right." said Colin O'Brien, Boylesports, Trading Department.

Diana Sayers, Miss Northern Ireland is 33/1 to take the title.
